The paper should have a clear thesis statement (i.e., Poe and Hawthorne are masters at revealing the dark side of the human psyche) that goes beyond merely pointing out similarities and differences.You should have adequate support from the texts (quotes) in all of your body paragraphs (bare minimum: two quotes from the text per paragraph as well as one quote from each outside source used (one quote for the essay, not one quote per paragraph).
