The paper should have a clear thesis statement (i.e., Poe and Hawthorne are masters at revealing the dark side of the human psyche) that goes beyond merely pointing out similarities and differences.You should have adequate support from the texts (quotes) in all of your body paragraphs (bare minimum: two quotes from the text per paragraph as well as one quote from each outside source used (one quote for the essay, not one quote per paragraph).
