That role is left to the efforts of the Black Americans. Through years of slavery, suffrage, and finally freedom, they have modeled what is today known as a fair American nation. For millions of years, the slaves of the country known as the supreme power are truly the honorary Founding Fathers.

There is a pattern in the madness that build America: the paradox of fear and boldness. African Americans were and have remained bold. Look at Gabriel Posser, so boldly facing death, standing by his beliefs, and accepting what is to come with a free man’s determination. Gabriel imbues the true Black American spirit. A spirit that has remained steadfast and strong. That has faced adversity, looked into the deep deaths of its lost heritage, and still forged new ground on which to stand on, to call home. This is the same spirit that has allowed many people, men, women, and immigrants alike, to fight for their rights.

On the other hand, the white Americans, the race that has bathed in white supremacy’s glory, present nothing but fear. I agree with Nikole, were it not for the slaves, America would never have sought independence as early as they did. They would have lived under the shadow of Britain’s far longer. Were it not for the sweat and blood of the Black Americans, the American nation would not have grown to be the greatest in the world. But this allure of a great country is nothing but a lie simply because it was founded on the premise of individuals that showed nothing but cowardice.

How can a nation that calls itself fair be unjust to people who have solidified its economy? How can a race that considers itself supreme be so fearful of a people they claimed to own? It is shameful that the white race has continuously used the Black community to blame for their shortcomings. Look at President Lincoln: when he could not control the Civil War, he decided to blame America’s slaves, the people that were unwillingly living in a foreign nation, without freedom or rights. President Lincoln, famously credited for emancipating the black community, is evidence of the distortion of the Black community’s real and authentic story.

In hindsight, the actions of leaders like President Lincoln define the narrative of American society today. President Lincoln and his colleagues – like the Union members and the Federal government – were fearful of the black community’s power. They saw in the black community a determination and resilience to overcome even the greatest hurdles. Therefore, in retaliation, the Founding Fathers birthed the belief that the black community was inferior. Why? They knew that fear would control the black community: it would incite the white masses and give them the courage to take back and control what they considered was their home.

Sadly, this is the same fear we see leaders use in the media today. But in truth, the black community spirit has already become so prevalent in the nation that no amount of orchestrated fear lasts long enough to hold water. Because strong African Americans, like Nikole’s father, refused to deny that American was their home, because Crispus Attucks died for independence, every individual in America has absolute freedom and rights. And even though America is still not an ideal nation – unjust actions of racism are still evident – through Nikole’s essay, it has become apparent that America is the Black Americans.
