Although I expected the turn up in the event to be high, I must admit the turn up in the wellness pavilion was a surprise. I expected that most people would be all about the fun and merry in the event but as it turned out, the attendees were equally concerned with their health. I also expected that the majority of the people that would seek screening to be the elderly and sickly looking individuals but it was satisfying to find out that attendees from different demographic groups were willing to participate.
Ice Cream Festival is an event that attracted a substantial number of sponsors. The Fulton-Dekalb Hospital Authority was the sponsors behind the wellness pavilion (“Good Living, One Scoop at a Time,” 2017). The purpose of the event was to promote health and wellness in an exciting setting. This was achieved by creating health awareness, offering free screening services, and engaging in fitness and fun activities.
The experience at the community clinical event was both exciting and fulfilling. I was able to interact with a number of parents seeking clinical advice for their kids on different health issues. They also sought dietary advice for their family members. Most of the teenagers at the event were interested in learning about HIV. Majority of them also participated in the HIV screening. I screened for glucose and blood pressure levels to clients from all demographic groups.
Most clients visiting the health pavilion were determined to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. My interaction with both the clients and the staff was characterized by dedication to deliver and receive the best clinical care and advice. The event was life-changing as many clients decided to abandon some unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. Most children were able to benefit from the health education offered especially on HIV.
